Certificate Course in Strategic Leadership

A series of eight coaching webinars for experienced international and English-speaking school senior leaders

ABEA offers you a series of eight 2-hour leadership development workshops with the aim of developing your skills as a school leader in India.
Each of the workshops will be live and there will be opportunities for Q&A during each one. The timing of each of the eight modules is spread across a period of months to allow school leaders the opportunity to apply learning from each module in schools.

On successful participation in all five workshops, participants will be asked to submit a 1,500 word evaluation project showing how they have used the workshops to develop leadership in their schools. As well as receiving constructive feedback on their evaluation report, participants will be awarded a certificate of completion from ABEA as a contribution towards professional development portfolios.

A series of eight leadership workshops for the Principal, Vice Principal, HOD, Coordinator, and people who work in the Mid-level management of any education institute.

  • Each 2-hour workshop will focus on one key area of quality leadership:

Workshop 1: What makes an excellent school leader

This workshop will explore how situational leadership models (adapting your style to both context and demands) can be used to lead with knowledge, impact, and humility. Using research, models of good practice and participants’ experience, this workshop will empower leaders at all levels to lead better and lead more effectively.

Workshop 2: Leading learning and teaching for engagement and motivation –

What engages students to learn well? How can we lead our teachers to be more motivating and inspiring in their classrooms? This workshop will explore highly effective strategies to enable us all to lead teaching and learning across our schools so that our students are excited, motivated, and engaged by our teachers and their grades improve by engaging with Rosenshein’s ‘principles of instruction’ and other key theories of effective learning and teaching that need to be at the heart of the leadership of all good teaching and learning in any school.

    Workshop 3: The gentle leader

The absolute best leaders are knowledgeable, skilled, humble, and compassionate. This workshop explores how we can all ‘lead gently’ to motivate and engage our school staff, engage them with our vision for change; and encourage them to get the absolute best results from our students.

    Workshop 4: Leading our teams

A school is only as good as the teams within it. This workshop uses research and theory on team leadership to give school leaders a real insight into how to lead and manage their teams effectively, hold colleagues to account and challenge underperformance.

Workshop 5: Data tips and tricks

During this workshop we will explore simple yet effective strategies to help school leaders engage more effectively with data – RAG monitoring, Effect Quotients, historical analysis, cohort analysis and target setting strategies will all be explored in this practical workshop.

Workshop 6: Effective resource management –

School leaders continually face the change of how to manage scarce resources – money, time and people. This practical workshop will share some top tips on effective financial management, making the most of your time and that of your staff; and how to recruit and retain your best teachers whilst moving on those that are failing your students.

    Workshop 7: Managing behaviour

We can only manage the behaviour of others by changing the way we behave. This workshop will give school leaders at every level the tools and techniques to look at what motivates challenging behaviours in our students, their parents and our staff; and how we can change our own leadership actions to resolve situations professionally and positively.

Workshop 8: Distributed leadership and completing evidence portfolios

Our final workshop will explore the concept of distributed leadership, how we empower others to take leadership decisions and how we can share the learning from our training to building on our work for impact into the year ahead and beyond.

Each participant will receive a comprehensive resource pack for each webinar and, on successful completion of all ten webinars and the submission of an evidence of impact portfolio, participants will receive a ‘certificate of excellent leadership’ from ABEA.
