The Certificate in Assessments and Effective Classroom Practices is a dual professional development program designed for schoolteachers and subject leaders in India. Delivered through two modules of four 90-minute live webinars each. The first module on Assessments focuses on enhancing classroom pedagogy and assessment practices in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP). Participants will gain practical tools, strategies, and insights to improve teaching effectiveness and student outcomes. The second module on Effective Classroom Practices focuses on enhancing classroom pedagogy and assessment practices in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP). Participants will gain practical tools, strategies, and insights to improve teaching effectiveness and student outcomes.

 

Learning Outcomes

Module 1 - Assessments

  • Participants will be able to:

    • Define the purpose of assessment in the context of the Indian National Education Policy (NEP) 2023.  
    • Identify at least three effective formative assessment strategies and explain how they promote learning.  
    • Design an iterative assessment plan for a specific subject and grade level, incorporating a variety of question styles and feedback mechanisms.  
    • Differentiate between formative and summative assessment and explain when each is appropriate.  
    • Create a summative assessment that aligns with curriculum objectives and NEP guidelines.  

Module 2 - Effective Classroom Practices

  • Participants will be able to:

    • Develop a comprehensive lesson plan that includes clear learning objectives, engaging activities, and formative assessment strategies.  
    • Explain the importance of aligning learning objectives with learning outcomes and map the learning journey within a lesson.  
    • Create a classroom management plan that promotes positive behaviour and effective learning.  
    • Implement active learning strategies that encourage student engagement and independent learning.  
    • Adapt their teaching practices to align with the NEP's expectations for active learning and student-centred pedagogy.

    Certificate in Effective Classroom Practice

    1. Master the art of planning great lessons aligned with student learning outcomes.
    2. Develop learning-centered objectives and structure lessons effectively.
    3. Foster a positive classroom environment that promotes behaviour for learning.
    4. Implement strategies for active and independent learning as outlined in the NEP.

    Certificate in Assessment

    1. Understand the purpose and role of assessment in effective teaching and learning.
    2. Master formative assessment strategies to provide meaningful feedback and enable student progress.
    3. Prepare students for examinations through iterative assessment techniques.
    4. Design and implement effective summative assessments, including MCQs and other testing methods.
