This workshop enables educators to examine the role of skills as part of effective teaching and learning, and not as an ‘add-on’. Educators are introduced to assessment and reporting of skills – considering models such as copy/watch/do/teach. They learn to identify subject specific skills by examining expectations of coursework and exams and mapping subject specific skills - listing the most important subject specific skills that lead to school success - create a collaborative online map of which skills, when and whom. They will get an opportunity to practice example strategies of teaching selected specific skills and develop a collaborative online collaborative ATL skill toolkit – strategies to inspire students. The workshop will include role play and peer review along with using self, peer and teacher evaluation to improve metacognition as a preparation for life.
